Hi, I’m Madeleine!
I am a wife and mother of crazy little boys, a creativity and art lover, and an avid home interior design enthusiast!

A Few Fun Facts About Me
I grew up as the 13th child in a large family of 15! Now, my siblings are all grown up but we have never been closer. I am constantly chatting with my sisters and you can imagine all the love and chaos when our families get together!
I live in a small town in Kansas. You would be surprised the fun events there are in these little communities and I am still finding hidden gems even though I have lived here my whole life!
My absolute favorite dessert is ice cream! If you asked my younger brothers about this they would probably laugh or roll their eyes and let you know that I have a problem.
My second baby was born five weeks premature, he must have been impatient for all the cuddles he gets on a daily basis.
I can’t swim. It’s as simple as that, I’ve tried to learn and I always sink like a rock. I definitely need to learn this skill at some point.
My husband has a Spotify podcast called The Everyday Joe, where you can find his love for a good joke, surprising sports knowledge, and his never ending ability to have a good time in action.
I am always trying new things! You can’t come to my house without hearing about a new project or seeing various DIYs in progress.
Why I started the Chic & Cozy Creative
As a wife, mother, and homemaker, I am always learning as much as I can about creating a beautiful and curated home, while also keeping the fun and creativity alive in a household where my children will make memories and cherish traditions. I am driven with a passion for learning all the rules, the ins and outs and tips and tricks of elevated and luxurious interior designing, while striking a balance with infused personality and life. Many elevated interiors can be cold, lifeless, or devoid of personality and cheer, which is not what I want my family to call home. I’m always looking for a new way to make this ideal home and life possible despite the limitations life throws at me, and I wanted to share these sparks of new ideas, creativity and the joy of homemaking in my everyday life with all the other families just like ours.
That being said, I decided to start the Chic & Cozy Creative to do just that, be a resource for home interior design tips and creative inspiration, and to be a shopping hub for all things stylish, cozy, and dash of whimsical.
Before my website launched, I endlessly studied and researched to be absolutely certain that my writing was jam packed with super valuable information and home design secrets. This constant curiosity and need for answers led me to develope my own system to understand interior design, the Reinert Root Method. It solved so many problems and answered all the many questions I had flying through my head about the process of understanding your personal style and interior design as a whole. It created a way to navigate it all, the endless information and beautiful photos all over the internet, as well as how to apply these design concepts to any home in a practical and accessible way. This system became an invaluable source for my own style understanding, so valuable that I absolutely had to share it with the world! If I can offer an easier way for anyone to fall in love with their home and take their personal style to the next level, then all of my efforts are worth it.
You never run out of fun yet elevated interior design inspiration and floods of creativity when you visit the Chic & Cozy Creative!
Thank you for checking out my website! Good luck on your home journey!
Homemaking as a Passion
I have always had a passion for home decor and decorating, even when I was a child I had a deep love for making my own space feel just like me and bringing my own special touches into a room. Now that I have a home of my own, you could say that I have become an interior design nut! I want to give everyone the knowledge and confidence they need to beautify their own home, regardless of their limitations.
My husband and I bought a small fixer upper house when we got married, and even though it is old, patched together, and so far from perfect, I instantly fell in love with our good little home. I resolved that despite myriad setbacks, I would try my best to make our small piece of the world a dream home in its own way. Everyone else had given up on this little house, but I could pick up the task before me with a cheerful heart and make it a beautiful and comfortable home.
When I’m not researching and learning every piece of information I can, I am experimenting in my own home to learn what works and what doesn’t. I have already made many mistakes in my short time as a homemaker, but they have each taught me another valuable lesson that I can share with others and brought me closer to my goals. I am still so far from done, but I understand that creating a curated and beautiful home takes time. It’s ok to be in the process and to open up and connect with others who are in the process with you.
If you love your home and know that it’s worth the effort, come with me on my journey and learn all the fascinating aspects of interior design and decorating, and how to apply general principles to any space.
